Dr Playforth grew up in Malawi, which is often called the “Warm Heart of Africa”.
In naming her practice after this place that is so close to her heart, she hopes to infuse it with the same warmth, generosity and kindness for which the citizens of Malawi are known.

Dr Playforth has always had a special interest in writing and in parent/patient education.
In 2020, she founded The Pediatrician Mom, an online educational platform that provides balanced, evidence-based information for parents. She is regularly featured in the media, and has been seen on NBC, CNN, Today, Forbes, NYTimes, NewsNationNow, HuffPost, and more. 101 before One: A guide to introducing solids via responsive feeding. Part of a team that includes a pediatric dietitian, a pediatric allergist, and a pediatric speech pathologist. Now available as both a book and a digital guide! A new toddler guide will soon be available as well.
A Pediatrician’s Path: This is a book about the different pathways a pediatrician can take after completing residency.
